Prof. Dr. Gökhan Kılıç, Director of the Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Center and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at İzmir University of Economics (IUE), stated that urban transformation should be İzmir’s most pressing priority. 

Prof. Dr. M. Şükrü Güney, a faculty member of our department, will participate as an invited speaker in the 6th Water Engineering Symposium, to be held on October 19–23, 2026.

Prof. Dr. M. Şükrü GÜNEY will present the experimental findings and numerical analysis results obtained within the scope of his TÜBİTAK project at the ICEGS-2026 congress, where he has been invited as a keynote speaker.

Our Civil Engineering Department faculty member, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şükrü Güney, has had his book titled "Technical English" published by astana Publishing House.

Students from the Departments of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) carried out earthquake simulations by examining scaled models of 22 world-famous structures. 

İzmir University of Economics (IUE) students have reached the finals of the Earthquake-Resistant Building Design Competition organized by the Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (TCIP) with their 27-story office building design named “Finance Bridge.”

Prof. Dr. Celalettin Kozanoğlu, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), drew attention to the fact that some apartments may get smaller in buildings undergoing urban transformation. 

Students from Departments of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) conducted earthquake simulations by examining 50 iconic structures from Izmir and around the world through scaled models. 

Prof. Dr. Celalettin Kozanoğlu, Head of Department of Civil Engineering at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), said that the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Istanbul should be perceived as a warning for Izmir as well. 

A team of 5 students from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) made it to the finals of the Earthquake-Resistant Building Design Competition organized by the Natural Disaster Insurance Institution (DASK).
